Pentecost Candy Bar

Pentecost means fifty days after Easter. So it always takes place the seventh Sunday after Easter.  A fun activity to do with your kids to celebrate Pentecost is to have a candy bar.  Buy your favorite red candy at the store like, red hots, Swedish Fish, red gum balls, and the like to fill different shaped and sized glass jars with the candy Once you have the jars arranged then have kids fill up their candy bags and read the story about Pentecost found in Acts 2:1-21. Perhaps have your kids invite their friends or neighbors over to learn and enjoy the candy bar as well..

A couple of other fun ideas is to have a Pentecost ice cream bar. Start with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, then pour on the strawberry syrup, add the whip cream then top it off with a maraschino cherry.  Another idea, you and your kids can bake a red velvet or strawberry cake, then frost with white frosting and decorate with a red flame or dove to symbolize the Holy Spirit.  You could do the opposite and bake a vanilla cake, frost with red frosting and top with a white dove to represent the Holy Spirit.  For a healthy Pentecost snack you can slice cheddar cheese and monterey jack cheese in the shape of flames and place it on top of a cracker. Another healthy snack is to slice red and orange peppers and put in a cup with ranch dressing at the bottom.

Have fun engaging the senses through sight and taste to make it a memorable time with your family celebrating a wonderful gift given to us by our Heavenly Father.
